Tanya Zekovitch
Founder & President of Cancer Survivors Unite
Tanya@CancerSurvivorsUnite.org

Tanya was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma at age 7. After surgery and about a year of chemotherapy she was considered to be in remission. In August of 2000 at age 23, Tanya was again diagnosed with cancer, this time AML, a type of leukemia. It was after this diagnosis that she realized there was a lack of resources for young adult cancer patients and survivors. It was at this time that she started compiling information for a website dedicated to the young adult cancer survivor. Hence this website and organization were born. Aside from working on Cancer Survivors Unite, Tanya enjoys watching football, cooking, and spending time with family and friends. *On November 15, 2006, Tanya had surgery to get an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD). In May of 2007 she needed her ICD upgraded, to a bi-ventricular Pacemaker. Since the insertion of the pacemaker, she is doing well. For more information about Pacemakers, visit Penn Health.

Doug Hunsinger
Board Member, Program Coordinator
Doug@CancerSurvivorsUnite.org

Doug was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma at the age 6 months; he went through treatment for 2 years. Since then he has been cancer free. Doug has been involved with Cancer Survivors Unite since its inception back in 2004; this is the second time he has served as a board member. Doug feels he is giving back to the cancer community, by helping other young adult cancer survivors through tough times. He also looks forward to meeting new people who understand what it's like to be a young adult cancer survivor. When Doug is not working full time as a CAD tech, he enjoys soccer, shooting pool, and hanging out with family and friends.

Board Member

Katelynn@CancerSurvivorsUnite.org

Katelynn Holzer joined the board of directors in the Spring of 2009.  Katelynn has not experienced cancer herself, but has seen several family members battle this horrible disease.  She has wanted to give back to the community and Cancer Survivors Unite has given her that opportunity.  She looks forward to being a part of this organization and is excited to help us move forward in the coming year.  Aside from Cancer Survivors Unite;  In the Fall of 2009 she will be attending Bucks County Community College, where her major is Paralegal.  She enjoys listening to all types of music, going to the movies to see the latest releases as well as hanging out with her friends.  Her family and friends mean the world to her.
