survivors wanting to further their education. Each region has different

The Andre Sobel River of Life Award |
The Andre
Sobel Award was established to honor survivors of catastrophic illness
(under the age of 21) and to enable them to fulfill a cherished desire
as they proceed with their lives. A $5,000 cash award is presented to
the first place winner of the essay contest, with additional cash prizes
awarded to honorable mention winners. As opposed to a scholarship, the
Andre Sobel cash awards can be used in any way the recipients choose.

Cancer for College |
Cancer for
College was founded in 1993 by Craig Pollard, a two-time cancer
survivor. Cancer for College provides one-time and recurring
scholarships for current and former cancer patients. The scholarships
are available for attendance at a four-year or two-year undergraduate
institution or graduate school. Scholarship amounts vary, ranging from
$100 one time scholarships to four year perpetual scholarships of larger
dollar amounts. The deadline is May 1, except for applicants from the
Pacific Northwest (WA, ID, OR, MT) who have a September 1 deadline.

Cancer
Survivors Fund |
Scholarships are granted for college education of cancer survivors.
Recipients are selected by a committee based on applicants' personal
hardship and financial need. The applicant must be a cancer survivor or
currently diagnosed with cancer, and does not have to be receiving
treatment to qualify. The applicant is enrolled in or accepted for

The Hydrocephalus Association |
Applicants
must be between 17 and 30 years old and have hydrocephalus. The
scholarships are $500 each, and will be awarded in June. Scholarship
funds must be used for an educational purpose: a four-year or junior
college, a high school post-graduate year to prepare for college,
technical or trade school, an accredited employment-training program or
a post-graduate program. The scholarship funds may be used for tuition,
books, housing or an expense directly related to the education

Scholarships are offered nationwide to graduating high school seniors,

The
National Collegiate Cancer Foundation was established to provide
services and support to young adults between 18 and 35 years of age,
whose lives have been impacted by cancer. These young adults have
continued with their education throughout treatment or after their
treatment. Scholarships are $1,000 competitive awards and all are one
time awards. Previous awardees are encouraged to apply each year that

The Ryan
Mullaly Second Chance Fund |
The Ryan
Mullaly Second Chance Fund is a non-profit corporation offering
scholarship assistance to young people who are fighting cancer. We are
looking for young men and women whose high school years were disrupted
by cancer and whose ability to qualify for most scholarships was
precluded by the extensive absenteeism and physical disabilities which
result from chemotherapy and radiation. The Ryan Mullaly Second Chance
Fund offers a $1,000 scholarship for cancer survivors. Candidates must
be US citizens or permanent residents, have been diagnosed with cancer
between the ages of 13 and graduation from high school, and currently be
age 22 or younger. Priority is given to students still undergoing
treatment, those with permanent effects from treatment and those at the

Stephen T. Marchello Scholarship Foundation provides college
scholarships of up to $2,500 a year for four years to high school
